It came into history when the Roman emperor Gai Aurelius Valerius DIOCLECIAN had his magnificent Imperial palace of white stone of Brac built, in the 4th century, in the centre of what is today Split. From those times, through generations of the finest stone masters, the art of stone masonry has been living on Brac.
